A Helltown Story

Sam had been in the Vault of Horrors. He had seen the Boxed Sets all lined up against the chamber awaiting a soul to partake of their glorious riches. He felt the singe of the Fire Serpent, heard the Howling of the Metal Beast and witnessed the Grizzly Embryo birth of the Veoh.
The New Releases spat forth onto this realm with Slaughter on their minds. A Changeling came up From A Place of Darkness to rend his living soul. Untraceable in the darkness, The Living Hell stretched out over the Dark Floors like Doomsday at Twilight. Like an Insanitarium, the Bad Biology was Growing Out of this Asylum on a Night Train to insanity.
Sam caught himself as he fell face first back into the pool. Determined, He started spreading mud upon his face and hands. He covered every exposed bit of flesh he could find. Then he started mudding his clothes. At least this time, this time he will have some protection for his precious flesh.

Right Now…Somebody

clipped from www.appleseeds.org

Right Now…

Somebody is thinking of you
Somebody misses you.
Somebody wants to be with you.
Somebody hopes everything turns out all right.
Somebody wants to give you a gift.
Somebody thinks that you ARE a gift.
Somebody wants to hug you.
Somebody loves you.
Somebody is thinking of you and smiling.
Somebody would do anything for you.
Somebody wants to be forgiven.
Somebody values your advice.
Somebody treasures your spirit.
Somebody loves you for who you are.
Somebody is glad that you're his/her friend.
Somebody is alive because of you.
Somebody trusts you.
Somebody will cry when they read this.
Somebody hears a song that reminds them of you.

The shuttle lifted off without a hitch

clipped from www.space.com
Shuttle Discovery Launches Toward Space Station
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The space shuttle Discovery
successfully launched into the clear evening sky above Florida late Sunday
after a series of delays held it on the ground for more than a month.
The shuttle
lifted off without a hitch
at 7:43 p.m. EDT (2343 GMT) from Launch Pad 39A
here at NASA's seaside Kennedy Space Center. A hydrogen gas leak that foiled
Discovery's first launch attempt last Wednesday did not pester the shuttle
again and the weather was 100 percent perfect for the liftoff.
A first for Japan
Getting over glitches
Today's flight is NASA's 125th shuttle flight and the
36th for Discovery.

And my family life closes on twilight

Its been 24 years. A life of bustin ass to keep a family. Responsibility for lives other than mine.
Worry, overpowering love, sadness, fantastic joy, pride beyond measure, shame in secret places, togetherness, those quiet moments and the full blown bashes.
The house will be empty, its a rental. I don't need the bills that go with it. A nice efficiency apt with everything included. Quiet, Seclusion, reflection, peaceful memories, time with my wife (I can stay naked if I want!).

Its been a lifetime and I put everything I had into it. My children have made me proud in the choices they make. Their compassion for others and their understanding of others faults. If I feel I succeeded in bringing up my family, who else really needs to care?

Irish Soda Bread

Irish Soda Bread
Irish Soda Bread
3
tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
2 1/2
cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
2
tablespoons sugar
1
teaspoon baking soda
1
teaspoon baking powder
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/3
cup raisins, if desired
3/4
cup buttermilk
Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease cookie sheet.
Cut butter into flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt in large bowl, using pastry blender or crisscrossing 2 knives, until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in raisins and just enough buttermilk so dough leaves side of bowl.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth. Shape into round loaf, about 6 1/2 inches in diameter. Place on cookie sheet. Cut an X shape about 1/2 inch deep through loaf with floured knife.
Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with butter or margarine, softened, if desired.
Why the "X" on top of Irish soda bread? Legend tells us that this cross is meant to scare away evil spirits. Spooky!

Prep Time: 10 min

Total Time: 55 min

Makes: 1 loaf (14 slices)

8-Part Smart Wheel

clipped from www.technovelgy.com

Dynamic Augmented Wheel System Eight-Part Wheel
The Dynamic Augmented Wheel System eight-part wheel is actually a working prototype of an interesting idea; that a car can take a turn better if the wheels lean in segments.
However, I'm still liking this prototype because it reminds me of the cool (and as yet unattainable) smartwheels from Neal Stephenson's 1992 novel Snow Crash.
Smartwheels use sonar, laser range finding and millimeter wave radar to identify mufflers and other debris. Each one consists of a hub with many tiny spokes. Each spoke telescopes into five sections. On the end is a squat foot, rubber tread on the bottom, swiveling on a ball joint. As the wheel rolls, the feet plant themselves one at a time, almost glomming into one continuous tire. If you surf over a bump, the spokes contract to roll over it. If you surf over a pothole, the rubber prongs probe its asphalt depths.

3D Television Display In Real Time

clipped from www.technovelgy.com

3D Television Display In Real Time
This real-time 3D television system shows a very convincing three-dimensional image to all viewers without any special glasses. It was implemented by Wojciech Matusik, a senior research scientist at Adobe Systems.

"A singular lenticular sheet focuses the light onto a reflective surface as vertical stripes. The reflected light then passes back through the lenticular toward the viewers. The overall effect is that sixteen views of the scene are shown in different positions in the viewing area.

This item is a reasonable implementation of the stereo tank from Robert Heinlein's shocking 1961 novel Stranger in a Strange Land.
